On 14th September, we were allowed to celebrate in our General Motherhouse Oberbronn a big feast:

the 200th birthday of Mother Alphonse Marie (Elisabeth Eppinger).

“We”, in this case the sisters of the three congregations, those who venerate Mother Alphonse Marie as foundress,

the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer (Sopron/Rome),
the Sisters of the Redeemer (Wurzburg)
and our Congregation (Sisters of the Divine Saviour Niederbronn).

We also had engaged together the three years long preparation – under the motto of

“The greatness of a Simple Life”.

Sisters from all corners of the world had come to thank for the gift of life of Mother Alphonse Marie, after whose example they all themselves strive today to follow Christ and to be available for the people.

Also the “immediate family” from the Eppinger family are followed our invitation and have celebrated with us together their great -great -great … great aunt.

The diverse nationalities, cultures and languages came to appearance by the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided by Archbishop Mgr. Grallet (Strasbourg).

Then followed by the lunch there was also opportunity to see again known co-sisters or to get to know new ones.

In the afternoon, Prof. Winling in his talk made it clear that the spirituality of Mother Alphonse Marie still possesses current importance. Afterwards Sr. Katarina as Postulator of the beatification process informed about her work and the current state.

By all the events and encounters of this day were great joy and fraternity to feel, as well as deep gratitude for the gift and example of a simple Alsatian woman who was sensible for the signs of God. She had totally surrendered herself to Him, with courage and unshakable trust and so for many she became a great witness of his love and mercy.
