Joint celebration in Ružomberok

The Greatness of a Simple Life

The two congregations of the same origin, which are in Slovakia: The Sisters of Niederbronn Congregation and the Sisters of Sporon/Rome Congregation have celebrated on the 29th of August 2014 at the Faculty of Pedagogy of the Catholic University in Ružomberok the 200th anniversary of the birth of Mother Alphonse Marie, who is considered as their foundress.

The celebration took place in the Assembly Hall of John Paul II under the motto: The Greatness of a Simple Life. After the opening ceremony of the celebration by the provincial superiors of both congregations, the invited guests had speeches for the sisters and lay associates who live the spirituality and charism of Mother Alphonse Marie:

 

  •          Mgr. Ľubomír Grega, spiritual director of the Seminary of St. Francis Xavier in Banská Bystrica – The personality of Mother Alphonse Marie from the point of view of the greatness of simple life
  •         S.S.Dr. Blažej Štrba PhD., professor of biblical studies at the Theological Institute in Badín –   Christ lives in me
  •         Doc. ThDr. Ján Jenčo PhD., vice-dean for education of the Theological Faculty of the Catholic Universtity – Charism of Mother Alphonse Marie as a gift for today
  •       Sr. Lucella Maria Werkstetter, the former Superior General of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Saviour – How do sisters and lay people live from the spirituality and charism of Mother Alphonse Marie today   
  •          Sr. Katarína Krištofová, the Superior General of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer and the Postulator of the process of beatification of Mother Alphonse Marie – A long time desire of the sisters of Mother Alphonse Marie to venerate their foundress as beatified

Between the speeches, a film from Max Kronawitter The Instrument of MercyMother Alphonse Marie Eppinger was presented. The program culminated in the Holy Mass at 4:00 p.m. in the Holy Family Church with the attendance of the bishops of those dioceses where the sisters are present, priests, sisters, lay associates and co-workers of both congregations.
