A Fasting That God Likes

What if Lent meant something different from a time of seriousness, deprivation and frustration?

For us Christians Lent is a time to get focused again and to let ourselves be guided by the word of God more and more.

Three elements might help us to this end: prayer, fasting and sharing. Yet many of us still follow their rather moralizing and external ideas. What kind of fasting is it then that God likes?

The Bible says, “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? (Isaiah 58, 6-7)

The following testimonial describes very well what Lent invites us to do.
