For more than 70 years young people have been going on this pilgrimage, the so-called Youth Corbinian, to the town of Freising. This year, from November 14 to 15, 2015, thousands of participants bore witness again for their faith and willingness to face the serious questions of our time. It was a strong and widely recognized sign.
Together with the team for Vocations in the Church Sr. Odilia, Sr. Maria Don and Sr. Barbara joined other brothers and sisters as well as pastoral assistants in adding a special offer during this year’s pilgrimage.
They called their offer for the ‘Market of Opportunities’, which took place after the great Pilgrimage Mass, ‘The Quest – become hunters for the hidden treasure’.
As in ‘Indiana Jones’ two rooms had been prepared in a way that the young people had to creep through dark tunnels and perform difficult tasks. In the dark they met several wise mentors who illuminated their way. Together with their mentors they finally reached their destination, where they could take a rest, eat and drink and talk about their experiences.
In that way the young people considered what they had felt while roaming the three areas and summoned courage to talk about their experiences and important question.
They could agree to being prepared to eventually make a detour, to follow Jesus and to find their own way. They also began to sense that their calling would be a precious gift.
In order to encourage them on their way we asked them to meet the challenges of life by seeking God and taking Him as their guide.
For us spiritual mentors it has again been a valuable experience to enjoy the support of the team Vocations in the Church and other helpers and we appreciated, of course, the encounter with the young people.
