Africa Day in the Nunnery

Children discover Africa – in the middle of Munich…

On our ‘Africa Day in the Nunnery’, which took place on March 7, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Nunnery, 13 children aged 8 to 12 went on an expedition to Africa together with their guides Sr. Conceicao and Sr. Odilia.

First the children got to know some facts about that big continent via Powerpoint and DVD. Each child made their own drums, which they later learned to play. A small typically African meal was prepared and we had great fun eating, singing and dancing together. Beautiful sunshine allowed us to have fun outside in the playground as well.

Finally the children took part in the evening prayer of the sisters, for which a Portuguese Magnificat was sung, special intercessions were made and the drums were played. In the end the children exchanged their addresses and said they were looking forward to the next fascinating offer of the nunnery.
